Dubai is undoubtedly a Shopaholic’s paradise. 

Shopping lovers from far and wide visit this city. Their primary goal: to shop-till-they-drop but Dubai has a lot more to offer.

Dubai is slowly becoming a favorite tourist destination.

Dubai is famous for its shopping districts called Souks. Tourists flock to the modern malls as well as the souks to meet their shopping needs. The best part about Dubai is perhaps that friendly negotiation over prices is available almost everywhere so you can get some really good bargains too.

Shopping aside, the most exciting part of Dubai is the several new additions to the Dubai skyline. The Burj Khalifa which is the tallest man-made structure in the world is most definitely a sight to see. Visiting The Burj Al Arab; the fourth tallest Hotel in the world is a once in a lifetime experience too. To add to this you can also see the biggest natural flower gardens as well as man-made islands along with some spectacular shopping malls. In short, Dubai will exceed your travel expectations.

However, a word of caution: It is important to be well-aware of the culture of the Middle East before you visit. Be extra vigilant and follow some rules and you will have the shopping experience that is incomparable to any other in the world!

When planning a trip to Dubai, Always remember that you are going to be in a country with a different culture. The belief-systems differ greatly. It is important to follow certain rules and respect the values. Moreover, the laws are extremely strict so make sure that you do not get into trouble due to the failure to follow them. 

Dos in Dubai

• Wear a comfortable pair of shoes.   The sprawling Malls and shopping festival generate the need for a good pair of shoes as you may need to walk long distances. You might not think you will get tiered of shopping but it is easy to do so!

• Be dressed modestly on the streets of Dubai. Tight, transparent or skinny clothes are not to be worn.

• Avoid Public displays of Affection. In Dubai kissing, hugging, touching in public is considered inappropriate. It is advisable to completely avoid it as you may offend someone’s sensibilities. Be extremely careful.

• Smoking is allowed only in designated smoking areas. You cannot smoke in public places like malls

Don’ts in Dubai

• Don’t click photographs without legal permission; especially photographs of people.

• Don’t let your vacation dates coincide with the festival of Ramadan as laws and rules are very strict during this time. A woman was once arrested for drinking juice in public during the month of Ramadan so it is better to be careful.

• Don’t use any kind of drugs, firearms or pornographic material. If you are caught you will be jailed

• Don’t drink while driving in Dubai. Being drunk in Public is strictly prohibited.

• Don’t use any swear words or rude gestures in public.

• Don’t reveal too much; clothing-wise. Both men and women should make sure that their knees, thighs, shoulders are covered in crowds

• Don’t use road shoulders to take rest or use mobile phones on Dubai roads.

• Don’t dance in public. It is considered to be offensive and indecent.

• Don’t openly stare or disturb any Muslim during his/her prayers.

Dubai temprature won't surprise you.

Dubai has two kinds of weather: Hot and very hot! The months from May to August are sweltering hot and the temperatures can rise to nearly 50 Degrees Celsius. It isn’t a very good idea to plan your holiday during this time.

The best time to travel, weather-wise, is from December to February. Additionally November and March are also quite pleasant as you might encounter less crowds and the hotels can accommodate you easily.

It is advisable to not plan your holidays during the month of Ramadan as there might be some restrictions that apply to everyone in Dubai irrespective of religion.  Unless you are on a cultural trip make sure that you avoid Ramadan. 

It is possible to reach Dubai by plane, by car, by bus as well as by boat in some cases.

Dubai International airport is the most important hub in Middle East. Taxi and public transport facilities from the airport are readily available. As this airport is often extremely busy during peak times it is also a good idea to get off at Sharjah international airport which is a mere 30 minute drive by car to Dubai.

The bus service is efficient too. It links the capitals of the Emirates to each other so it is a good option to take a flight to one of the less busy airports and a bus to Dubai. Tickets can be booked online.

Some Cruise ships also include Dubai as a terminal in winter.

Within Dubai, public transport is readily available. Buses and Taxis are a good idea. If you want to drive there you will need an international driving license.

Burj Khalifa

It is a matter of pride to visit The Burj Khalifa as it is the tallest building in the world at a staggering 2,722 feet. This beautiful man-made masterpiece adorns the skyline of downtown Dubai since 2010. You can experience being on top of the world on the observation deck on level 124 of Burj Khalifa. Surely, this is not something to be missed.

Ski Dubai

Ski Dubai is a ski resort in Dubai. You can experience snow in this indoor resort even in the sweltering heat if Dubai. Interestingly, there are actual penguins inside Ski Dubai so you can arrange encounters with these rare bipeds easily.

Dubai Museum

If you want to know more about the culture and traditions of the people of the UAE, Burj Dubai is a must visit. It was established in 1971 by the then ruler of Dubai and houses a great deal of historical artefacts that will help you learn a lot about the culture of this place.

Dubai Miracle Garden

Very recently, in 2013, the Dubai Miracle Garden a sprawling 72,000 square meter garden was made and has attracted several tourists already. This garden is the largest of its kind in the world and has some spectacular landscaping achieved through planting flowering plants systematically

Palm Islands

One of Dubai’s many man-made marvels, the Palm islands are a huge area of islands built on reclaimed land in the shape of a giant palm tree. The settlements are all in the shape of branches of palm trees. These islands are famous because a lot of influential people around the world have bought property here. There are many things to do here so do plan a visit.

Dubai Beaches

Clean, serene and well-kept beaches can be found along the coastline of Dubai. Some the best beaches here are Jumeirah beach, Al Mamzar beach and Jebel Ali beach although there are many others to choose from. If sun and sand are your kind of a thing, these will be perfect for your itinerary. Several hotels, islands and other tourist attractions have been built on the beaches that are worth a see. 

Burj Al Arab

The Burj Al Arab is one of the most state-of-the-art hotels in the world and also one of the most expensive. If you have a lot of money to spend it can be an amazing experience. However, you can also just visit it for the sake of it since it really is a sight to be beheld.
